Night Guard

Do you ever wake up with a headache or sore jaws? Do you notice that your teeth are wearing flat? If you answered yes to any of these questions you may be clenching or grinding your teeth at night. Tooth griding, or bruxism, is a common issue and can have serious negative long-term effects on our natural teeth. It can also lead to soreness in the jaw, neck and shoulders. A night guard is used to prevent clenching and griding when you are asleep. The good news is that there are ways to prevent the damage and soreness that comes with bruxism! At Allen Brentwood Denture Clinic our experienced Denturist will be able to determine if you are experiencing bruxism and offer the right solution for you.

What can be done for bruxism

If our denturist determines that you are suffering from bruxism it is possible that a night guard will be recommended. A night guard is a custom-made dental appliance that restores the space between top and bottom teeth. The night guard protects the teeth from side to side grinding as well as the pressure of clenching. Because of the custom impression taken at the initial appointment, the night guard is made to fit intimately on your natural teeth, usually not needing any adjustments at all.
